Loess, opening night
good start
The initial Loess installation is hung! It was an intense week and a half getting it up, but everything came together. We opened a little over a week ago with a reception followed by the first of our eight performances and then a Q+A. Here’s the complete schedule of the ongoing performance series - the next two are this weekend!
Images from that night - more of the installation on the way soon:

It was the first “gallery opening” I've had of this kind – and it was lovely of course, but also pretty funny/weird. As a choreographer/performer I’m more used to talking about work after performances. Odd to be in conversation with folks about an environment they have only just walked into! But it was “the opening” and the enthusiasm was sweet.
Hannah Turner and Deena Goodgold performed a gorgeous Iris Dance duet followed by an unexpectedly rich scored duet/trio between me, Jason E Anderson on synthesizer and Harvey Gordon moving one of the cattle bodies in slow motion from underneath. I say “unexpected” because Michael Schumacher was called away the night before - but he’ll join us again soon and the score held. The Q+A afterward was so warm and energetic, with insightful audience observations and questions. That was my favorite part I think - felt like good impetus for the next three months.

How exciting. What a lot of work on that installation. Totally you, of course! And what a nice attendance! Congratulations. So looking forward to seeing where it’s at when I come mid April!
